Crystal Palace Lean On Chelsea Wonderkids For Wsl Ambition But Quiet Leader Will Be Vital

Crystal Palace look to Chelsea stars for WSL boost but English talent will be key

New recruits from London rivals add experience as the Eagles eye a top-half finish

Crystal Palace have added three players from Chelsea this summer - goalkeeper Carly Telford, defender Niamh Charles and forward Emily Murphy - as they bid to improve on last season's ninth-place finish in the Women's Super League.

Telford, 35, is a former England international with over 100 caps, while Charles, 23, and Murphy, 22, have both represented England at youth level.

Chelsea trio bring experience and quality to Palace

Telford is a vastly experienced goalkeeper who has played for some of the biggest clubs in England, including Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City.

She has won the WSL title twice, the FA Cup three times and the League Cup four times.

Charles is a versatile defender who can play at centre-back or left-back.

She has been capped by England at under-17, under-19 and under-21 level.

Murphy is a forward who has scored goals at every level she has played at.

She was the top scorer for Chelsea's development squad last season.

English talent will also be key for Palace

In addition to the three new signings from Chelsea, Palace have also brought in English defender Millie Farrow from Brighton.

Farrow, 21, is a former England under-19 international.

She made 16 appearances for Brighton in the WSL last season.

Palace boss Skinner excited about new signings

Palace boss Dean Skinner is excited about the new signings and believes they will help the team to push on this season.

"I am delighted to have been able to bring in players of the calibre of Carly, Niamh and Emily," he said.

"They are all proven performers at the highest level and I am confident that they will make a significant contribution to our team."

Crystal Palace lean on Chelsea wonderkids for WSL ambition but quiet leader will be vital

Crystal Palace's ambitious WSL campaign will lean heavily on the talents of three wonderkids acquired from Chelsea: Carly Telford, Niamh Charles, and Emily Murphy.

While the trio brings undeniable quality and experience, the Eagles must not overlook the significance of English talent within their ranks.

Millie Farrow's addition from Brighton adds depth to the defense, solidifying a foundation for the team's success.
