Gerrit Cole Suffers Calf Cramp After Strong Start in Yankees' Win
Cole Exits in Sixth Inning After Allowing One Run on Four Hits
Yankees Win 6-2 to Sweep Rangers
New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole was forced to exit his start against the Texas Rangers on Sunday with a calf cramp after six strong innings.
Cole allowed just one run on four hits and struck out eight batters before leaving the game with two outs in the sixth inning.
The Yankees went on to win the game 6-2, completing a three-game sweep of the Rangers.
Cole's Exit
Cole was cruising through the Rangers' lineup before experiencing the cramp in his right calf while throwing a pitch to Brad Miller.
He immediately signaled to the Yankees' dugout and was replaced by reliever Miguel Castro.
Cole said after the game that the cramp was "pretty significant" and that he was "not able to push off" his right leg.
Yankees' Win
Despite Cole's early exit, the Yankees' bullpen held the Rangers scoreless over the final three innings.
Aaron Judge hit a solo home run in the first inning, and Giancarlo Stanton added a two-run homer in the third.
The Yankees have now won five straight games and are 15-10 on the season.
